Economics is what people do to get what they wantMandi wanted McDonald's, she chose to spend
her $6 allowance to get a kid's meal.

Mandi asked the McDonald's worker is she could get the
brand new Frozen toy that had came out in the kid's
meal.
Employee: I'm sorry, we are all out. All the new toys
run on a scarcity schedule.
*Mandi was confused, as she looked to her mother for
help*

"What does scarcity mean?" Mandi asks her mother.
"Scarcity is when they are all out of toys because so
many kids like you want them and they don't have
enough available" states Mandi's mother.
*Mandi wonders how they get the oranges that
come in her kids meal*
"How do they get so many oranges for the
kid's meals?" Mandi questions her mother
again.
"Well, they go through the factors of
productions. The three factors of production
are: Land, Labor, and Capital. In land, we use
crops to produce the fruit. In labor, its the
employee because they are the ones who pick
the oranges off the tree. In capital, its the
machines, they are the ones that package the
product to send off to each McDonald's
restaurant" said Mandi's mother.
Mandi: Oh wow!

"So, wait ... why do they put oranges in kids
meals rather than other stuff" asked Mandi.
"Well, that's where freedom of choice and an
economic goal such as efficiency comes into
place. Efficiency takes place because they are
lots and lots of orange trees that produce the
oranges so selling them in the kids meals is
efficient. Also, McDonald's as a business has
the freedom of choice in which the buyers
choose what they want. Just like how you
chose the orange" said Mandi's mother.
