I'm not Sophia, I am a Puppy
Sophia was a little girl who loved to pretend all the
time. She had big blue eyes and curly blonde hair. She also
had quite the imagination. Mommy and Daddy would always
laugh a lot at the many ways Sophia played.
Sophia had a pet dog. Her name was Ruby. Sophia and
Ruby would play together for hours. After lunch time they
would cuddle together on the big brown couch. It was not
long before Ruby and Sophia would fall asleep.

Mommy had to wake the sweet little sleepers. She had
planned a trip to the pet store to buy some dog food.
Sophia loved looking at all the animals in the pet store.
Sometimes she was allowed to hold them. Sophia was
allowed to bring Ruby into the store with her.
‘Sophia’ Mommy called. ‘Would you like to hold one of
these cute little puppies?’
‘Oh yes Mommy I love puppies a whole lot.’ Sophia
replied.

The puppy was so wiggly in her hands. Sophia giggled
and giggled. The puppy moved so much that it almost fell
onto the floor. Mommy caught the puppy just in time.
‘I am sorry Mommy. I did not want to drop the puppy.
You caught him in your hands before he fell. Sophia
replied with a deep breath.
‘Sophia, darling, it is okay. You are a little girl and the
puppy is very excited that you were holding him. Do you
want to try and hold him one more time?’ Mommy asked
nicely.

‘No thank you!’ Sophia answered.
As Mommy stood at the cash register paying for the
dog food, Sophia looked back to the little puppy and
twiddled her fingers as she whispered goodbye.
‘Good bye little puppy, I will miss you” Sophia
whispered.
Mommy, Sophia and Ruby drove back home along the
river road. Sophia asked Mommy lots of questions about
puppies.

Mommy’ Sophia called out.
‘Yes Sophia’ Mommy replied.
‘I am not Sophia, I am a puppy.’ Sophia spoke in a
serious voice.
‘Really! Where did my little girl Sophia go?’ Mommy
asked.
‘Arrf! Arrf!’ is all Sophia could say.

Sophia lay back in her seat daydreaming of all the
animals in the forest. They made sounds like her. The cow
would moo. The duck would quack. The bear would roar.
The monkey would make ee! ee! noises.
Of all the animals that Sophia could be she picked the
puppy. She loved everything about being a puppy. She
loved being patted on the head. She liked to crawl on her
hands and knees. She smiled every time she would become
a puppy.

‘Mommy’ Sophia called out.
‘Yes Sophia’ Mommy answered with a smile.
‘I am not Sophia, I am a puppy.’ Sophia spoke in a
serious voice.
'Where did my little girl Sophia go?’ Mommy asked.
‘Arrf! Arrf!’ is all Sophia could say.
