Some spider monkeys live in the Amazon Rain Forest.



Female spider monkeys give birth to only a single
baby every two to five years.



Spider monkeys communicate by screaming
and screeching loudly.



Their diet is mostly made up of nuts, fruits, and
flowers.



Some species of spider monkeys are endangered
mainly due to deforestation.




Spider monkeys have four fingers. They do not have
thumbs.


They live in groups called troops.


Spider monkeys got their name because they hang
from trees by holding on to the branches with their
arms and tails.




Spider monkeys spend their whole lives inside the
treetops; they never move on the ground.



They travel by jumping from tree to tree.



Spider monkeys are known to hug each other when saying
hello.



They have very long and flexible arms that help them
move around.



The biggest difference between animals and plants is that
animals move around, and plants stay in one place.



At night, spider monkeys gather in large groups
and sleep in trees.



Only female spider monkeys take care of
the babies.



The main predators of spider monkeys are
pumas, jaguars, ocelots and big snakes.






Spider monkeys use their hook-like hands to move
quickly from tree to tree.



The red-faced spider monkey has long, black hair and
a red or pink face that is bare except for a few white
hairs.



There are many different species of spider monkeys that
live in Central America, South America, and Mexico.





Spider monkeys live in the tropical rain forests
of Central America and South America.



The underside of their tails are rigid for added grip.
