Once upon a time, there were
two young princesses named
Abby and Amanda.
The princesses loved working
with children in the kingdom.

One day, Princess Abby and
Princess Amanda were
assigned to observe students in
two different kingdoms by
Queen Dani.

The two princesses set off on their
journey to observe the two different
students in the two different kingdoms.

The two princesses arrived at the first
kingdom which was called the Bee
Kingdom.

When the princesses entered
the kingdom, they headed
straight to the Bee School.
Once they arrived at the
school, they met Prince Tyler.

Prince Tyler was a nine year old boy in the
fourth grade.
Prince Tyler had been diagnosed with autism.
The young prince received his education in a
self-contained classroom with Queen Monica.

Prince Tyler had many strengths. He was an
exceptional speller and great at memorizing
different material. He was also wonderful at
reading comprehension.
Prince Tyler had a few needs when it came to
behavior and transitioning. He needed to have
his schedule written down everyday on a
whiteboard.

Prince Tyler’s assignments were modified in
order to reduce the number of activities and
tasks he had to complete.
Prince Tyler's goal was to work towards
transitioning back into the general education
classroom with his peers.

Sometimes Prince Tyler was sad because his
parents are separated.
Prince Tyler lived with his mom in the
kingdom and had difficulty getting to school
on time or even at all.
Queen Monica had to make attendance part of
his plan in order to get him to come to
school.

On two separate occasions, Prince Tyler
locked himself in the class bathroom
for extended periods of time.
During another visit, Prince Tyler fled
the room and refused to come back in
because he did not like the previews of
a movie they were about to watch.

Prince Tyler lacked the desire to
complete tasks. He would stop doing
his work and scream.
This changed when he could earn “bee
bucks” for completing tasks and
showing appropriate behaviors. These
bucks could be cashed in for prizes and
were motivators for Prince Tyler.

Queen Monica implemented choice time
in the classroom for Prince Tyler. Once
he completed a task, he could play on
the iPad or the computer to give him a
break.
Queen Monica used a timer in order to
help Prince Tyler manage his time in
the classroom.

The two princesses finished
observing at the Bee School and
said goodbye to Prince Tyler and
Queen Monica.

The princesses continued on
their journey and made their
way to the next kingdom to meet
the next student.

The princesses entered the new
kingdom that was called
Gladiator Kingdom.
The two princesses headed
straight to the Gladiator
School. Once they arrived, they
met Prince Mark.
