Computers are used for many things in
everyday life. They are capable of so
much. A computer could be narrowed
down to 4 basic things. These things
are called Input, Output, Processing
and storage. It sounds simple and it
is. They are all four important and
having two or three out the four things
are not enough. They are equally
important separately and work together
to form what we know as a computer.
There are many different type of inputs to a
computer. They all have different purposes.
Some inputs hook directly to the computer to
help control the processing. You have to go
through a lot to for inputs. Such as
programming them so the actual computers
understand them and what they are trying to
do. The main and most popular types of
inputs are a keyboard and a mouse. The
mouse help to control the computer so you
can use things like applications.
Outputs can sometimes be confused
with inputs. Like I said earlier they
are equally as important as one
another. But are different. The input
are more things that help control the
computer and the output are more
things the computer control. For
example a computer monitor is an
output device. Another popular output
device is a printer. These things can be
tricky and there is also things that are
both inputs and output such as a
modem.
Processing is important to a computer.
It is pretty much the brains of the
computer. An important processing
system is called a CPU (Central
Processing Unit). It is also known as
microprocessor. Without it the input
will not work the same and nothing will
work properly. CPU pretty entire
purpose is to process programs.
A computer would be very stressful
without storage. All computers have
different amounts of storage and
different things use different amount
of storage. Storage is often confused
with the memory of the computer.
Storage holds things like data and
instructions and is not connected to the
motherboard like memory. When the
computer is not powered on the storage
doesn’t really change or go anywhere
like the memory. Without storage
computers will be very stressful
because you would have to re-enter
every amount of data you want every
time you power on the computer.
