In school I hated to read, there was nothing 

that I wanted to read or cared to read. It 

wasn't until 7th grade that my friend introduce 

to my to James Patterson, and reading his 

book series I started to find more books that I 

enjoy and love to read. 

I don't remember being read to much, both my 

parents had long hours and story time never fit 

into life. I can remember in elementary school 

our liberian read Jan Brett books all the time and 

brought her pet hedgehog into class all the time.   

I was introduce to the James Patterson series. 

Alex Cross, Micheal Bennett series, Catherine 

Culture. 

My book case consists of James Patterson, 

Catherine Culture. I haven't bought a new book 

in a long time.

Favorite Children author, Eric Litwin(pete the 

cat), Jan Brett, Dr. Seuss, Bill Martin, and Eric 

Carle.  

Getting kids to read is so important, I didn't get 

into reading until it was to late and I regret it. 

With my preschool kiddos, I read to them all the 

time, and I encourage them to "read" to me. 

We will sit together and I ask kids to tell me 

whats on the page and tell them great reading. 

By getting them interested in books at a young 

age I think it will help when they get older to 

read books and try new books.
