Once upon a time their was a book about the Byzantine Empire. It was known as the Byzantine
Empire because of the divide in the 15th century. Occurred when the German Tribes split the
eastern and western empires. The only reason why it didn't fall was because slavery was not a
big of a deal as it was on the western sides of the empire. By the year of 500, unfortunately the
western empire disappeared while the east stood standing for almost 1,000 years.


Constantinople was named after a great emperor ( Constantine the great ) and the land was
dedicated to him on May 11, 330. Although, before constantinople was the name it was
Byzantine. Then later on was named Konstantinoupolis. Constantine is located on the European
side of the straight of Bosporus. It was a strategic location because of how wealthy it just was
and how the cities are so developed.
Main Attractions in these two places (Byzantine & Constantinople). One is located on the
European side, where the channel of Bosporus sits. The Golden Horn a stretch of water, that
divides the east and west. Last but not least the Grand Bazaar is a very big attraction that is
surrounded by walls, in the center of Europe with a great meaning to the Europeans.


The Byzantine Empire was deeply influenced by Russia's religion which was Christianity. There
trading styles were basically a like because of how commonly good their relationships were.
Another influence that the Russians picked up from the Byzantine Empire was their art life or
Art world. Saint Methodius and Cyril were both 9th century brothers born in Macedonia. They
were also christian missionaries who taught the Slavic people about the Great Moravia. They
were both credited with the first alphabet (Glagolitic), use to "Transcribe Old Church Slavonic".
The Cyrillic Alphabet was a plane message of missionary work w/ no directed in tensions in the
19th century. "Apostoles of the Slavs" made by Saint Methodius and Cyril.


Hagia Sophia this building was constructed on as a dome. It now is at the museum in Instabul,
Turkey. The actual name means "holy wisdom". It's built with 2 floors, has smaller dome
structures above the actual large dome.
It was not built as steel, and has a height of 108ft w/ a 240ft wide area. Served as a Cathedral.
When first though of at the time Constantmople was the capital of the Byzantine empire. Then
thats when they began construction in 532 A.D
