Make sure to put on sun screen One sunny day Stella and Anna wanted to go to the park.
Stella's mom said they if the wanted to go they would have
to put on sunscreen.

I'm not going to put on sunscreen

But you have to!

Why should I wear sunscreen?

I don't know, but I will ask my mom
when we get home Stella decided to put on the sunscreen and Anna did not. Afterwards they
decided to play tag.

Oh my! What happened?

Anna didn't put on
sunscreen and now
she's all red. Why is that?

Later, when they got back to the house. They found out that

Anna's arm was red and it hurts to move it.

Well, it looks like you got a
first degree burn.

You can get a
burn from the
sun?

There are a lot of ways to get burns, like by touching
a hot stove, fire or even some chemicals. There are
also different types of burns. Would you like to learn
more?

Yes!

There is first degree burn, which is what Anna has. The burned
area usually becomes red and swollen.

Then there is second degree. This one normally looks
red and has blisters. It really hurts when you get it.

Finally, there is the third degree burn. The burned
area usually has a gray-white color or a blackened color.
This one is not painful.

Wow! That is really
interesting!

This burn really hurts! How do I make
it feel better?

Lets run it under cold water for 5 minutes. Afterwards put
some aloe vera cream on the burned area. Then we can wrap
the burned area with a dry gauze.

Thank you! I feel so much
better now. I never want to
get burned again!

Always remember to put on sunscreen.
Also stay away from hot stoves, fires, and
certain chemicals. Those burns can be nasty. You're
considered lucky because you only got a first degree
burn. It only last for three days and then the skin would
peel.
