Medicine and Doctors in Rome
Often the doctors in Rome were slaves who used to be Greek Doctors.
The doctor's wanted to learn about the human body and sometimes the patients
were hurt in the process.
Rome conquered Alexandria and took the information from their libraries and
universities.
Roman Doctors invented forceps, scalpels and catheters, and we still use them
today in hospitals
They cataracts surgery, drilled holes in the brain to relieve head pain, removed
tumors, fixed hernia and many war wounds. Their success rate i was not so good
but we learned from their practice.
The Greeks gave us more medical information then the Roman, some feel that the
Romans caused us to go backward in medical advancements.

Roman Empire was one of the most successful armies in world history.
They were very well trained.
Citizen soldiers signed up for 20 years and were paid in land. Non-citizens
signed up for 25 years and earned citizenship.
There was no technology, their weapons were mainly: swords, daggers
and spears
They trained their military and we train our military today.
They sign up for a time period and earned rewards. We enlist for a time
period and get paid and so do we.
They used shields to protect themselves and our armies wear protective
gear.
