In a medieval town far far away
from anything lived a girl named
Ann. Ann lived in a town called
Whoville. In Whoville, school had
a big focus on math. However,
Ann had no idea how she would
apply all this math after school
was over.

Ann was walking home from school upset.
She had just finished her math, where she
learned about shapes and again wondered
when will she use this in real life. When
she saw her friend James in her neighborhood.

James ran over to Ann.

James asked Ann what was
bothering her. Ann quickly
explained that she doesn't think
that she will never use the math
that she learned in school. James
pulled out his cell phone and dialed
a number. Ann was confused on
what was happening.

Soon enough an alien tapped Ann on
the shoulder.

Ann was speechless.
"This is my special friend, Hagrad. He
is going to show you how we use math
everyday." James explained.
"Hello" Hagrad spoke.
"Uh hello?" Ann managed to say.

"What did you learn in math today,
Ann?" Asked Hagrad.
"We looked at different shapes, today."
"Perfect, let's go on an adventure
then!"
Off went Hagrad, Ann, and James went
on an adventure of a lifetime.

For the first stop they landed on the
beaches of Hawaii.
As they walked the beaches they
observed many sandcastles.
They looked at the different shapes of
the sandcastles. Some were square,
others were rectangular, some had
triangle tops.

"Look at that sandcastle" pointed out
James.
"That one is very cool!"
"What shape is the sandcastle?" asked
Hagrad.
James and Ann observed that the castle
had triangle shape sides with a
rectangle base. After some thought
they agreed that it was in shape of a
pyramid.

After they walked the beaches, they went to
dinner at a restaurant that looked like a
pirate ship.

"What are they shapes of the cannons?"
Hagrad asked.
"Well they have circular rectangle
shape" James pointed out.
"That means it is a cylinder!" Ann
confirmed.
"What about the hole that the cannon is
shot through?"
