The Muscular System has many different major muscle
groups within itself. Here are the 8 major muscle groups
listed in this book:
- Pectoralis Major
- Orbicularis Oculi
- Masseter
- Sternocleidomastoid
- Trapezius
- Deltoid
- Latissimus Dorsi
- Abdominals

This is the Pectoralis Major. This
group is found in your upper chest.
The Pectoralis Major has four actions
that are mainly responsible for the
movement of the shoulder joint.

This is the Orbicularis Oculi.
This group is found in your
maxillary and frontal bones,
mainly around the skin around
your eyes. This group allows the
body to open and close the eye.

This is the Masseter. This group
is found in the Zygomatic arch.
The Masseter elevates and
protracts mandible, which is your
jaw.
This is the Sternocleidomastoid.
This group is found attached to your
sternum, clavicle, and mastoid
process. This group is responsible
for the movement of the head and
neck.

This is the Trapezius. This muscle
group covers your upper back and
extends down the middle of your spine.
The Trapezius rotates and retracts
scapula and also elevate and depress
scapula.
This is the Deltoid. This group is found
on the upper most part of the arm and
on top of the shoulder. The Deltoid has
three parts to it. The Lateral portion
abducts arm. The Anterior portion flexes
arm at shoulder. The Posterior portion
extends arm at shoulder.

This is the Latissimus Dorsi. This
muscle group is found in the middle
of the back and is partially covered
by the Trapezius. The Latissimus
Dorsi is responsible for adduction,
transverse extension, and rotation of
the shoulder joint.
This is the Abdominals. This
muscle group is divided into nine
regions in the abdominal cavity.
This group has many functions
but one is to provide a tonic,
elastic muscular support for the
viscera.
