” Huff! Our vacation is about to end in few weeks and
still no mystery has showed up.’’ complained Meeta.
“To bad Sheena and Rohan have gone for vacation. A
mystery turns up every vacation when they are
around.” Said Rohit.
Both of them were sitting in Meeta’s garden and
were complaining for not having a mystery to solve
this vacation. Rohan, Sheena, Rohit, Meeta and
sometimes Melly, Rohit’s sister were all known for
solving mysteries in their town. Their friend,
Inspector Jenks often helped them to locate culprits
or trace phone nos., car plate numbers, etc.

The gate opened and they saw a postman walking
in.
“Letter for Miss Meeta.” he shouted.
“Here I am!’’ she waived.
She sat down and opened the letter.
“It’s from Rohan and Sheena.” she sounded
excited.
Sheena says “they will be back on Monday”
“That’s Tom Smith!” exclaimed Rohit
The day was over very soon. The next day Rohan
called Meeta and told her he and Sheena will meet
them in her garden in the afternoon. Meeta passed
this message to Rohit and she also asked him to
send Melly over to her house.

In sometime Melly arrived and rang the bell. Mrs.
Hellton, Meeta’s mom opened the door. Not
forgetting her manners Melly politely greeted her
and asked for Meeta.
‘’She is expecting you in the kitchen, dear.’’
‘’Thanks.’’ saying this she hurried in the house
directly to the kitchen.
She took a little peep in the kitchen breathing
delicious aroma from something Meeta and cook
were cooking.
‘’Yumm! Such a delicious smell. What is it?’’ she
exclaimed.
“Oh! You finally arrived Melly. ”said Meeta.

She broke down the news that Sheena and Rohan
are coming over today and added “That’s why we
are baking a few cookies and preparing snacks for
the evening. I called you wondering if you would
help us. ”
”I will I will!” she shouted excited.
With cook’s help, both spent the whole afternoon
baking mouth-watering snacks and then set out a
table in the garden looking forward to receive their
friends.
They heard the sounds of approaching bikes, soon
they saw the joyful faces of Rohit, Sheena and
Rohan on their bikes.

All of them left their bikes next to Melly’s bike and
entered through the gate which was open
especially for them.
‘’Hello there!’’ said Rohan.
Melly at once ran and hugged Sheena. That
evening they chattered about vacation and all the
fun they had in the past few weeks.
“Now that you both have come back we may have
a fun mystery to solve.” said Rohit.
“One always turns up when you both are here.”
added Melly.
‘’I may have something for us to solve.” Sheena
suddenly spoke up.

‘’What?’’ everyone chorused including Rohan.
“So as you all know we had gone for vacation to a
nearby beach hotel, in the morning papers was
mentioned that the Prince of India has come to
visit our town because he has found out that an
ancient treasure belonging to his ancestors is
hidden somewhere here and if somebody helped
him find the treasure, he or she would be
handsomely rewarded and would get a chance to
meet his majesty.” was Sheena’s reply.
“That isn’t exactly a mystery.” Said Rohan in a bit
of jealousy since he was not aware of this
happening in the town.

“You are right that is not a mystery but today’s
newspaper said that yesterday, somebody broke
into Prince’s room and stole his valuable jewelry.
They have also mentioned the name of the hotel
where they are staying. Maybe we can go meet
him and tell him that we are from this town and
have experience in solving such cases and after
Police, we can be his second chance in solving this
mystery.” saying this Sheena grabbed a glass of
lemonade and slowly started sipping to sooth her
throat.
“Don’t you think I ought to know all of this?”
Rohan asked Sheena.

Taking a break sipping her lemonade she calmly
replied.
‘’Well I tried telling you but it seems that you were
too busy singing in the shower.’’
Rohan blushed and everyone broke into a fit of
laughter. They spent whole evening laughing,
giggling and talking. Soon it was time for all of
them to leave. They said their good-byes and
decided meeting Tom on the same place in the
morning and made a plan of going to the Police
station and meeting Inspector Jenks to take
permission to see the Prince.
The night went really slowly as five of them
couldn’t stop thinking about the next day and the
adventure they had in front of them.

Soon the moment all the five children were waiting
for arrived. They quickly changed, ate breakfast
and headed for Meeta’s garden on their bikes.
‘’Hi guys! Lets ride of to the Police station and
meet the Inspector.’’ saying this Melly climbed on
her bike ready to go.
They all reached the Police station shortly
thereafter and asked for the inspector; fortunately
he was not very busy and was available. They were
all warmly welcomed in the inspector’s office.
“Good morning Inspector Jenks.” greeted Sheena.
‘’Morning everyone!’’ said the inspector with a
broad smile stretching from ear to ear.

‘’Inspector we came here to talk to you regarding
the Indian Prince. We were wondering if we could
help solving the mystery by talking to the Prince.’’
said Rohit pleadingly.
‘’I am happy to know that you guys are interested
and are willing to help in solving the mystery.’’ was
the inspector’s reply.
He then pulled out a card and handed it over to
Sheena. Looking at their puzzled faces he again
spoke up.
‘’This is an identity card that shows you are from the
Police side. You need proof that you all can be
trusted.’’
“Thank you so much we are off to the Prince right
away.” cried Melly.

They all headed to the Grand Hotel (where the
Prince was staying) and stopped at the entrance.
They parked their bikes in the area allocated for
those and then finally entered the enormous lobby
of the expensive hotel. As they moved towards the
reception they saw a rather familiar man standing
near the lift and waiting.
“Hey! Isn’t that the man who was near Meeta’s
garden and outside the Police station now he is
here! I have a funny feeling that he is following us.”
remarked Melly.
‘’Melly is right! Even I noticed that man. He is
following us where ever we go, what do we do?’’
Meeta spoke up suddenly remembering.

‘’Let’s just ignore the man and move forward.’’
Rohit suggested. ‘’We may as well keep an eye on
him.’’
The others agreed and thought this was a good
idea and they were again distracted towards the
mystery. But their thoughts were interrupted by
the Hotel receptionist - ‘’How may I help you
children?’’
“We have come to meet the Prince who is staying
in this hotel. Here is the identity card of the Police.
We need to ask him questions regarding the stolen
jewelry Inspector Jenks has sent us.” Said Rohan
so fast that he could hardly breathe.

‘’Fine, you can meet him. The bell boy will escort you
to his majesty’s room.’’ Saying this she rang the bell
and a boy dressed in red dress came and asked them
to follow him. They were taken to the lift and the bell
boy pressed the last button, floor 20 and up they
went. Once they got out of the lift they were escorted
to the one and only room on the floor. They knocked
o the door and a rather grumpy voice called out.
“Who is it?”
“We have come to meet the Prince.” called out
Sheena. “We are friends of the Police.”
The door slowly opened and they saw a man with a
small beard staring at them. He wore a fancy rather
shiny dress with lots of sequences hanging on the
soft and silky cloth he had and foreign accent.

Then Sheena showed him the card since she
noticed him staring at them suspiciously he was a
bit surprised is what she could make out by his
expression.
“Follow me.” He said in a severe but polite voice.
“My name is Charles by the way I am his majesty’s
butler.” Before they knew they had all entered a
room with the scent of Indian perfume in that room
was seated a handsome boy a bit elder to them he
was dressed in the same way like Charlie just
another color and next to him sat a beautiful girl
about Melly’s age dressed in a fluffy blue silk dress
with sequences on the top.
“I see I have visitors.” announced the Prince.

‘’Your Royal highness we are friends of Inspector
Jenks and have come to ask you questions regarding
the stolen jewelry. I know we are small but we have
quite a good record in solving mysteries so we would
like to examine clues.’’ saying this Sheena
introduced themselves.
“I am glad to meet you guys. I am a surprised you
are getting involved in such things at such small
age. My name is Prince Alvenmore and she is
Princess Luna.”
“We are here to question you but first we would like
it if you will tell us what happened from the
beginning.” pleaded Meeta.
“Okay if you say so. My father who unfortunately is
not keeping well has sent me here to do his work
and my sister has accompanied me for sightseeing.

I thought this place is safe but after my jewelry
was stolen, I started getting worried about the
security. I am glad to see that you have
volunteered to help us; I will be happy to answer
any questions you think will help nab the thieves.
The questionnaire was conducted by Rohan and
Sheena.
‘’Are the Police aware about the note?’’
“No, because I didn’t want it to reach the
newspaper.”
“Do you still have the piece of paper?”
‘’No, but I noticed a twisted black snake sign on
both the papers I received.”

The children were disappointed to hear this. They
excused themselves for leaving so soon and went
back to collect their bikes in all this excitement they
forgot about the man following them and they rode
off to their houses, yet before leaving Sheena
offered that they talk to the inspector about the
snake symbol and ask if they are familiar with any
gang using that symbol. What Sheena and Rohan
didn’t know that they had a surprise waiting for
them at home. As they reached home Rohan asked
Sheena to wait outside their shed for a few minutes
and she obeyed.
In it went a regular school boy but out came an old
man with wrinkles on his face and long whiskers.

“Oh my goodness is that you Rohan?” gasped
Sheena.
“I sure am. I am just trying my new disguise I
bought. I want to try it on mother.” said Rohan
prouder than ever showing off his new outfit. As
they walked in they saw three girls on the sofa
chatting with their mother, Mrs. Kenny. She was in
for a shock when she saw Sheena with the old man.
“Who is this darling and where is Rohan?” she
asked Sheena in astonishment.
“Relax mother this is Rohan! He was just trying out
his disguise.” replied Sheena in a calm voice.
“Rohan?!” exclaimed Mrs. Kenny. “I will not accept
dirty old people walking in my house like that
Rohan. Go and change now!”

Rohan quickly changed and was back in the room
where everyone was seated he took a seat too.
‘’Hi! I am Nancy Drew from River Heights. My father
is a lawyer and your father’s friend. These are my
friends Bess Marvin and George Fayne.’’ Spoke the
titanic blond girl with blue eyes wearing shorts and a
blue top.
“We have come here to visit your beautiful town and
for sightseeing not solving mysteries.” Said Bess, the
slightly plump blond wearing jeans and a short top.
“I am sorry but this is the first time I agree with my
cousin, Nancy is fond of solving mysteries and they
seem to follow her wherever she goes.” Added
George she had short, black curly hair and wore
shorts and a short designer top.

“So your mom was telling us that both of you are
also known for solving mysteries and I was
wondering if you both would be interested in
showing us around.” Proposed Nancy.
‘’We would be glad to.’’ Said Sheena.
So it was decided that Sheena and Rohan would
show the three girls around the next day. Before
night Sheena and Rohan had to debate whether or
not to tell Nancy about the mystery and they
decided to tell her. So the next day before they left
Sheena and Rohan walked to their guests’ room to
broke out the news.
“So I see one more interesting mystery to solve.

Are you sure that there is no other clue accept the
snake symbol?” Nancy asked them hearing Bess
and George giving a sigh.
“No other clue at all.” Was the reply from Rohan.
“I suggest that we keep the mystery aside for now
and go somewhere for shopping and sightseeing I
have planned some good places to show you guys.”
Sheena quickly spoke changing the subject. “We
are all going to shop till we drop.”
As she finished speaking they heard a loud bang
from outside, acting quickly Sheena and Rohan
went running towards the noise as Nancy, Bess,
and George followed.

When they reached they saw the same man
following them running out towards the gate but
Nancy saw a tattoo of a twisted snake on his arm.
“Did you guys notice his arm?” she asked.
“No! What was it?” Bess asked back curiously.
“He had a twisted snake tattoo on his arm the
description exactly matched it.” She answered.
“He was the same man following us there; maybe
he followed us back home. We anyways forgot all
about him in all this excitement about the
mystery.” Sheena suggested.
‘’I think you are right Sheena.’’
agreed Rohan nodding his head.

George quickly changed the subject.
‘’Rohan do you know any nice place where we can go
jogging next morning?’’
‘’Yes, we can go jogging near the river if you like.’’ He
said.
“For now let’s go and hit the market.” As Sheena said
shopping Bess’s face lit up.
They all reached the market all of them tried different
shops. Bess bought a blue hat which showed her
blond hair beautifully and a matching dress with some
heels. Nancy bought a showpiece for her housekeeper,
a beautifully carved pencil case for her dad, a
gorgeous pen for Ned Nickerson her date and a few
more gifts.

George just got a few workout clothes since she is
not much into fashion and shopping. Once
everyone was done shopping they went to the
Police station to talk with Inspector Jenks Nancy
offered to come with them while Bess and George
went back home.
‘’Morning Inspector Jenks.’’ Rohan greeted him with
a smile.
“Good Morning Rohan and Sheena, I see you have
a friend with you.” He friendly replied.
“Hi inspector, I am Nancy Drew from River Heights
I assume you know Chief Mc Ginnis.”
Yes! I do know him, and you are the girl detective
‘’Nancy, he tells me about you.

You have quite a reputation for solving mysteries.
It’s a pleasure to have you here.’’ He said shaking
her hand.
After talking a bit Sheena and Rohan narrated the
story making sure not to leave any detail behind.
“I will be right on it.” Jenks said when they asked
him to search a gang with twisted snake symbol.
They thanked the Inspector and left home. As they
reached the phone rang, Sheena picked it up. After
talking for a long time on it she joined the others.
“It was Meeta’s phone she has some good news for
us and wants to meet in the afternoon.” Sheena
reported.
The morning passed very quickly after that.

Meeta, Melly and Rohit were introduced when they
came. Once everyone was seated Meeta started,
“That day Rohit was trying out his new disguise we
didn’t recognize him but then he again came back
wearing the same disguise we knew it was him, but
just then the man following us came down the
street. Rohit was still wearing his disguise so
thinking quick he grabbed a pen and pad and went
running to him asking for his name and number for
his school project. Now guess what?” Meeta
mysteriously asked in the end.
“He gave us his number and name.” Rohit replied

“Let’s try it out.” Suggesting this Nancy grabbed
the phone and dialed the number written on the
paper Rohit held out.
“Hello’’ said a friendly woman’s voice.
Nancy and the woman had a short conversation
and finally she kept the phone back.
“The woman said we need to take an appointment
to meet him. I told her to set an appointment for
Tom tomorrow at 4pm. I have a plan too. I, Rohit,
and Rohan will go in disguise of reporters and ask
him questions at the same time search for clues.”
Said Nancy.
So the plan was made.

Next day, in the morning, Nancy, Rohan and Rohit
went to the shed to choose some of Rohan’s
disguises. They made up their choice by afternoon
and were now ready to leave. They made an early
start since Nancy had to rent a bicycle. After all of
them had their bikes they went to the address the
women had given to Nancy. When they reached
they saw a small office on the corner of the road.
The banner read ‘’Tom Smith’s answered
questions’. As they entered they felt the shiver of
excitement because on the desk sat the same man
following them and who had given them his name
and number.
