This is Macbeth, the Scottish warrior under the 

rule of King Duncan. He is the Thane of 

Glamis. 

Macbeth meets the traitor Macdonaldwald in 

battle and defeats him.

Macbeth and his best friend Banquo meet 

three witches who tell them their future. 

Macbeth is told he will become the Thane of 

Cawdor and eventually the King of Scotland. 

Banquo is told he will be greater and happier 

than Macbeth and his descendants will be 

kings. This got Macbeth thinking.....

Macbeth was given the title of Thane of 

Cawdor, which is exactly what the witches told 

him would happen. Macbeth now thinks he will 

become King of Scotland soon. 

Malcolm, the son of King Duncan, is given the 

title of Prince of Cumberland, which means 

that he will be the next king of Scotland. 

Meanwhile, Macbeth's wife, Lady 

Macbeth, had just recieved a letter from 

her husband which told her about the 

witches prophecy and his new title of 

Thane of Cawdor. She is also told that the 

King is coming to her house for dinner. 

Lady Macbeth dreams of 

becoming Queen of Scotland, 

so she starts to make a plan 

for Macbeth to become King. 

Macbeth and his wife decide to tell all the 

people at the dinner party that King Duncan 

has been helping their enemies and should be 

put into jail. 

Everyone believes Macbeth and Duncan 

is   thrown into jail. Malcolm runs away 

and goes to England to get help because 

he believes his father is innocent. 

Macbeth is crowned King but realizes he 

must do something about Banquo and his 

son, Fleance, if he is going to stay king. 

Macbeth decides to kick Banquo and Fleance 

out of Scotland so that they cannot take the 

throne from him. 

Macbeth feels so guilty for everything he has 

done, he starts going crazy and sees a vision 

of Banquo.
