"The ABC's of Alliteration"

In second grade, we’ve been learning how words and phrases supply rhythm and meaning in a story, poem, or song. We looked at many different mentor texts to see how writers use regular beats, rhymes, repeated lines and alliteration to make their writing more interesting. One of our favorite books was A My Name is Alice by Jane Bayer. In this book, the author uses alliteration and lines that repeat on each page. Alliteration is when the same sound is repeated at the beginning of words that are close together. Since we enjoyed the book and loved how alliteration sounds, we decided to write our own book using the same pattern. In addition to the writing, we each created a picture to go along with our alliterations. We hope you enjoy our book!

Wow I love it you really used hard work
LaPorter
Great book 2nd graders! I enjoyed your illustrations that matched the stories. I also liked hearing the various settings you each chose (different continents, countries & cities), along with the fun animal characters. Excellent work! I look forward to your next published book. Keep making creative stories with fabulous illustrations. Mrs. Porter P.s. How many of the places in your book have you been to before? How many of the animals in the book have you seen in person (not just in photos, books, or tv)? Did you know that you can feed the real giraffes at the Denver zoo? Enjoy sharing & celebrating your work. Bravo!
