So the two rulers of Spain gave Columbus the funding he needed for his trip.

Columbus gathered a group of 90 men to sail with him on the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria.

They set off to start the long and sought out journey in 1492.

After two months of long and harsh sailing, Columbus and his crew ended up in what is now the Bahamas, and he thought it was India.

He was greeted by the settlers and he noticed that they all wore jewelry, so he settled in the village.
