In the 1900s the rise of nationalism lead European countries to imperialism and militarism. Imperialism is the strongest country dominating other countries politically,socially, and economically. Militarism was the proposal for a strong standing military ready for war. Nationalism was the belief in your country's pride and loyalty.

Alliances and Crisis in Europe

Alliances were part of what ignited WWI. The first alliance was The Triple alliance with Italy, Germany, Austria-Hungary. The second alliance was the Triple Entente which was Russia, France, and Britain.

The beginnings of the war
The beginning of the war the countries took their positions Germany and Austria Hungary were know as the Central powers. The others were called the Allies, Great Britain, France, and Russia.

The battlefield was in the Western Front. There the Germans developed the Schlieffen Plan to attack as fast as possible to win France in the Eastern Front. Meanwhile wars were fought in trenches along the Western Front.

The Gallipoli Campaign strategy for allies to attack the Ottoman Empire, Dardanelles.
Battles in Africa and Asia was under attack by European countries and mostly Germans.
American joins the fight after several submarine warfare by germane and the Zimmerman telegram.
War affects back at home were disease, total war making women to men roles, rationing, propaganda for war.
Russia Falls making the central powers collide and Germany makes them armistice to be pulled out of war.

Woodrow Wilson president meets for peace discussing his Fourteen Points it included self-determination. It was at the Paris peace conference that made the Treaty of Versailles. Creating the League of Nations to establish peace among nations.

The use of new techanolgy rose the budget and also increasing of technology. But what was the most impacted was the statistcis of the deaths.
