A is for Abraham Lincoln. He was the sixteenth president of the United States. He was known as honest Abe, and he helped end slavery.

B is for Bill. A bill is an idea that people write when they want to make a new law. If the bill gets enough votes it turns into a law.

C is for constitution. A constitution is a set of rules that all people and states have to obey.

D is for democracy. Democracy means that people choose their leaders by voting for them.

E is for eagle. The eagle is the national animal of the U.S.A.

F is for freedom. Freedom is the right to say and act certain ways without getting in trouble.

G is for George Washington. George Washington was the first president of the United States.

H is for honeymoon. The honeymoon period is a time when people say nice things about the president.

I is for independence. Independence means we make our own rules. We are not controlled by another country.

J is for jury. A jury is a group of people who decide if a person has committed a crime.

K is for kitchen cabinet. The kitchen cabinet is a group of advisers who help the president make important choices.

L is for liberty. The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of both democracy and freedom.

M is for media. Media is tv stations, radio stations, news papers, and other ways people get information.

N is for nominee. A nominee is a person who has been chosen to run for office.

O is for Oval Office. The Oval Office is where the president works in the White House.

P is for president. The president is the person chosen to lead the United States.

Q is for quorum. Quorum is the number of people needed at a meeting to make decisions.

R is for rights. Rights are things that all people are legally allowed to have or do.
