A is for alligator.
An alligator is in the family of reptiles like crocodiles. Alligators are smaller than crocodiles. Alligators can be found in lakes, rivers, and other bodies of water. They are most active in warm weathers. They survive in freezing temperatures but they MUST keep their nostrils above the surface to breathe. Alligators live up to 30-60 years of age.


B b
B is for bumble bee.
A bumble bee’s color is mostly yellow and black. A bumble bee is best known for having a sting on it's tail, which the bumble bee uses to protect itself from danger. Once the bumble bee uses it's sting, it breaks off and the bumble bee dies. A bumble bee's favorite food is nectar. When there is no nectar, bumble bees also eat honey and pollen to survive.


Fun fact: A bumble bee can live up to one year!


Fun fact: A cheetah’s long tail helps it balance when it makes sharp turns.


E e
E is for eagle.
An eagle is a large sized bird that flies in the sky. An eagle’s body is covered with feathers. An eagle has a very sharp beak that allows it to grab its prey and clawed feet to catch animals on the ground and in the water. Eagles need a good place to nest, hunt and get food in order to survive.


F f
F is for frog.
A frog is an amphibian. A red eye tree frog has long legs that it uses to jump when it leaves the water. They eat insects and smaller frogs. The babies are called tadpoles. A red-eyed tree frog mother finds a leaf that hangs over some water to lay her eggs on it. Red eye tree frogs can be found near water sources for the tadpoles to survive.

Fun fact: a red-eyed tree frog mother lays 30-50 eggs at a time.





I i
I is for iguana.
An iguana is a reptile. Iguanas bodies are covered in scales. Iguanas can be brown, green or yellow. An iguana changes it skin color with their mood. An iguana has a long tongue. Iguanas favorite food are insects. Iguanas have excellent sight that helps them seek their prey and be aware of predators.




K k
k is for koala.
Koalas spend most of their time in trees. They eat leaves. Sometimes, a koala must find a tree with more leaves. If they do not find one, they walk to another tree. After a long day of eating and climbing, the koala curls up on a branch for a nap. A baby koala is called a joey.






N n
N is for numbat.
Numbats are long mammals. Their bodies are covered in colorful fur. Numbats have strong front claws and long sticky tongues which they use to get termites out of their nests. Numbats are small in size. Due to their small size, numbats are prey to larger predator animals such as foxes, snakes and birds. Numbats do not need to drink water because they get it from the termites.
