The role of the human respiratory system is responsible for taking in oxygen and breathing out carbon dioxide by a series of organs as we breathe. It is very important as oxygen keeps the body alive.

When you breathe in, you breathe oxygen into your lungs and when you breathe out you blow carbon dioxide out.

The Respiratory system is made up of a series of organs including the nose, nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx, trachea, smaller passageways ( bronchi, bronchioles) alveoli, diaphragm and the lungs.

Shown in Figure 4 is a picture of the human body labelled with each part in the body.

For your body to stay alive, each organ needs to function correctly!
This is a list of the organs that make up our Respiratory System and what they do:
Nose: Breathes in the air into your body
Nasal Cavity: It warms, moisturizes, and filters the air entering the body before it reaches the lungs
Pharynx: Is an airway passage that also moistens the air
Larynx: Transfers the air to the trachea
