Tommy's mom told him the whole story of Milton Hershey while they ate lunch. "When Milton Hershey was a little boy all he wanted to do was help others, but it was hard. He didn't go to school so everyone made fun of him for having big dreams, but that didn't stop him."

"When Milton Hershey was in 5th grade he had to work for a printer, but he didn't like that, so he decided to work for a confectioner instead."

"What's that?" Tommy asked.

"A confectioner is someone who makes and sells sweets" answered Tommy's mom.

His mom continued. "While Milton Hershey worked for the confectioner, he learned all about making caramel with fresh milk. But Milton Hershey was very independent, so he tried to start a new business selling his own caramel. Unfortunately, this company failed and he lost all of his money. He kept trying to make it on his own."
