A is for Adapt
Adapt means to change to fit new conditions. The Constitution is a living document because it is adaptable, so it is suitable and can fit conditions now. There are currently 27 amendments.

B - Bill of Rights
The Bill of Rights is the name for the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution. We still use the first ten amendments to this day.

C is for Constitution
The Constitution is the supreme law of the United States of America. There are 7 articles and 27 amendments, the first ten are considered part of the original Constitution. The Constitution has been in place for about 230 years. The Constitution is still being used today.

D is for Delegated Powers
Delegated powers are powers that are given to the national government. No one else has these powers, except the states. These are some examples of powers the national government has.

E is for Election
Elections are held to chose public office or some other position. Nowadays, we vote for senates, governors, presidents, and many other things.

F is Federalism
Federalism is when you split up the National and State powers. Federalism was put in place so no one would gain to much power.

G is for General Welfare
General Welfare is when taxes are collected and set aside for programs that will benefit people. The National Government has the power to do this.

H is for House of Representatives
The House of Representatives is one of two houses of the bicameral United States Congress. The house is larger than the senate. All the rules are listed in the first article of the Constitution.

I is Impeach
Impeach means to accuse a public official of misconduct in the office, before an appropriate tribunal. Two presidents, Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton have been impeached. When a public official gets impeached, it is a big deal.

J is for Judicial Branch
The Judicial Branch is a part of the government that explains the laws. Article III in the Constitution sets up the Judicial Branch.

K is for Keystone
Keystone is the part of a policy or system on which all else depends. The main idea of the Declaration of Independence is that all men are created equal and have certain rights.

L is for Legislative Branch
The legislative branch is made up of two houses of Congress, which is the Senate and the House of Representatives. Their most important job is to make laws.

M is for Medicare
Medicare is a program when you provide care for people over the age of 65, certain younger people with disabilities, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease. This program is run by the government. This program was made on July 30, 1965 by President Lyndon B. Johnson and is still being used today.

N is for National Debt
National debt is the amount of money a country owes from it's debt, but they also have to pay interest on the debt. We have national debt because we have to pay for military, health and care, agriculture, education and much more.
