Many people talk about traveling, and how they'd like to go off and experience different lifestyles, customs, and languages. Even if you have not gone far, you can read about how traveling is often a life changing experience and provides insight that leaves you being a more open minded and well rounded person.
But when it comes to traveling, there are those who talk, and those that do.

Luckily, with the help of St. John's, I was able to make my dream of traveling a reality, and I got the chance to study abroad in Paris for a semester.

3
I knew no French, had only been on a plane once before, and didn't know anyone who would be abroad with me. I was scared to leave New York and everything I was so used to.
But I was still up for the challenge.

When I got to the airport I remember thinking “This is finally it.” I had done so much in preparation for take off- getting a passport, a visa, filling out endless paperwork, and gnawing off my nails day after day wondering if I would even make it to France after all.

5
But once I was craning in my uncomfortable middle seat over the girl next to me in headphones to take a picture of the skyline as the plane took off, it all felt real, and it finally set in that I was going to be living in another country for 4 months.

When I got to France, the fun began almost immediately. With so much to see and only four months to see it, I figured I shouldn't waste any time. I began with excursions to the most famous of Parisian monuments and historical sites.
Like the Tour d'Eiffel.
7
As time went on, I got used to the city and the language and learned my way around. Even as apprehensive as I felt before moving to France, I felt right at ease within weeks. I began to finish my homework as early possible so I could explore on my own.

8
I learned that it was important to see things from different points of view...
9
Because sometimes you may realize you like it better that way.
10
I learned about different religions, and got to see some of the most beautiful architecture in the world.

Like la Grande Mosquée.
and la Cathédrale de Notre Dame.

11
I was able to explore some of the most famous sites in history, like la Palais Garnier...
