"Hello! My name is Eli. I am a Bald Eagle but scientists call me Haliaeetus leucocephalus. I'm here to teach you about my life as a Bald Eagle. I just came out of my egg, so I am a new born. New borns have less feathers and they are different colors."

"As I get older, my feathers will change colors. It takes me about 5 years to grow my new 7,000 adult feathers, they will help me to be able to fly and to keep me warm. Then I can fly out of my nest and look for my own food. Bald eagles eat mostly fish, so that's why we build our nests by lakes and rivers. "

"My beak is used for tearing my food so I can eat it. My beak keeps growing during my life, just like your fingernails! So eating tough things helps to trim it."

7
"My tail is very important for flight. While I am soaring, my tail feathers spread in order to help me not to fall. My tail is also used like a brake when I'm landing."
