One pretty spring day, Billy and his dad were watching the birds fly around the trees.

"Dad," said Billy. "Where do birds come from?"

"That's a great question, Billy," said Billy's dad. "I'll tell you all about it while we go for our walk!"

"All birds start out life inside an egg," Billy's dad began.

"Wow!" said Billy. "That's amazing!"

"I know," said Billy's dad, "but that isn't even the best part!"

"It's not?" said Billy.

"No, it gets even better when they hatch! Then they are baby birds, or chicks," replied Billy's dad.

"Then what happens?" asked Billy eagerly.

"Then, the parent feeds the baby birds so they can get stronger and grow," replied Billy's dad.
