The Federal Reserve is the central bank of the United States

The FED has three main mission.

1.) Make sure the price level stays the same and doesn't change a lot.

2.)Make sure the economy grows

3.)Stability in foreign exchange rates

The FED is ran by a group of people. Janet Yellen is the chair-woman, which means she's in charge. Stanley Fischer is the vice chairman; Daniel Tarullo, Jerome Powell, and Lael Brainard are members of the Board of Governors. They decide what happens eith the money in the U.S.

One big thing the FED does is make money. The U.S. id divided into 12 areas called districts,  where the FED has a building that prints and takes the money to smaller banks so people can have it.

The FED not only prints money but it holds gold for people. It is protected deep under the ground in a vault that is guarded.

The Federal Reserve was created December 23, 1913 to create a better economy for the people.
