Lions, we all know what they are, but do you
know what a pantherna leo is?

Fancy way of saying lion!
This "fancy" thing that i'm
talking about is called a
"scientific name".

Now first things first, where can a "panthera leo"
be found?
well panthera leo is an African lion so this kind is
found in africa!
So now that you learned a little about my friend its
time to hear her story!

Sally was a normal lion cub, she loved to play
and couldn't wait to grow up and hunt with her
mom. But there was something she always
heard the adults talking about.... a family that
didn't live with them, well yeah when her
brother grew up he would have to start a pride
of his own but that's not what they meant?

So one day she went off to find her
missing family... On her trail she found
a scientist named Hennig who was
digging up fossils.

"whats that?" she asked politely. "that's what
I'm trying to figure out" Mr. Hennig responded
without even looking up. "Maybe I can help."
sally said. "well ill be! I can't believe I didn't
see it sooner!" Mr. Hannig said "its a patherna
leo, just like you!" "I hear my mom talking
about our family? Is this my uncle?" Sally said.
"oh no,no this is your ancestor. Come with me
to my lab and I will tell you about your family."
said Mr Hannig.

At the lab Mr. Hennig told sally all about her
family starting with a food chain. He told her
how her tongue is rough to help her eat better
and how they have loose skin on their
tummies so if they try to catch an animal like a
zebra and get kicked they wont get hurt too
bad. He even told her that the reason why she
was a tan color was to blend in with the dirt
around her so she wont be spotted when she
starts hunting.

"sadly you don't have very many symbiotic
relationships but you do have a few." mr hennig said.
"wait wait wait, a symba? I may be a lion but this isn't
the lion king." sally said "no, it means you both
benefit from something. for example your pride might
catch an animal but not eat all of it, so that it doesn't
go to wast a vulture might eat it."

"Both of these graphs show the evolution and
adaptations over a long period of time"
"evo-what?" sally said. "evolution, the change
of a species over time."
