Thank you to all the little bodies who teach me how to think big every day.
Your teacher Marcia.

Why art and writing my name are important?
Preschool (3-4 year old) students will use different types of art to reinforce letter formation, recognition and identification of their names.
Writing and Identifying their names will help students to learn about printing, words and their meaning. Kids will learn that their names are words and that letters have an order. Once they recognize their own name they will recognize their other friends' names in their classroom.
Their immediate environment will be an important factor in motivating the students to be familiar with and recognize their name.

How do we incorporate their names into their daily routines?
- Arrival
- I am here Wall
- ABC's and word cards.
- Art Projects
- Placemats with their name.
- More Art.

The Classroom environment will allow the students to see and participate with their names in their daily routines. Kids will work on their name recognition and it will be a way to sign in/out of their classroom.

Where is _____ ? Tune: Where is Thumbkin.
During Circle time, the teacher shows the picture of the child that is on a craft stick with their name on it. We sing Where is (Name of the student) and after they recognize her/his name she or he will walk to the "I am Here Wall" to put the craft stick in the appropriate envelope that has her/his name on it too. They will recognize their names and come back to the circle to keep singing with their friends.

Letters, letters everywhere....
Students will be exposed to word charts, ABC cards, prints around the classroom. These cards will be selected by themes. Kids get motivated by these cards. Kids become familiar with their letters and they might say "A is for me" or "That is my letter."
