Once upon a time on a little old farm land

Lived a mother hen with ten beautiful baby chicks who squawked and ran

She loved each baby equally, favoritism never took a stand

Besides the mother hen on the farm also lived a boy and man

They were father and son, and each took care of the chickens as if their own

Loving and caring for them no matter the time or day

They were alike in both appearances and personality, but differed in one little zone

And that was their tastes for the appearances of the eggs that the chicks would lay

The father always preferred the nine young older chicks that would pop out perfect eggs

Shaped like a true oval, gently glossed without a crack or crust in white

But the little boy stood on two dissimilar legs

He preferred the tenth youngest female chick that popped out eggs not quite right

Deformed in shape, crusted and cracked in a yellow-ish hue

The eggs were far from perfect compared to the ones the man picked
