This informational narrative is dedicated to my son Isaiah, who taught me that being different is a beautiful thing and that like nature, we are all still connected.
This story is narrated from the point of view of a child with high functioning Autism who has a fascination with nature and facts.

From the tiniest flower,
to the tallest tree by the creek,
Each petal is different,
every branch is unique.
We were all made differently,
We were colored our own shade,
Made our own heights and statures, You were uniquely made!
Some differences are on outside,
These we can clearly see,
Many differences are on the inside,
I am different, because I am me.
There are over 400,000 species of flower!
Together we can reach the sky,
and discover whats under our feet.
Some friends are really tall,
and others are more petite.

The tallest person ever recorded was Robert Pershing Wadlow at 8ft and 11.1 inches tall.
The shortest person in the world is Chandra Bahadur Dangi, at 21½ inches.
Some children use crutches,
Or roll in wheelchairs,
It takes great strength to move,
and to travel upstairs.
I am amazed at their strength,
and their agility on the ground.
They are certainly special,
In the way they get around.

"Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, providing year-round training and competitions to more than 5.3 million athletes and Unified Sports partners in nearly 170 countries. ..."

Did You Know?

I have friends of different color,
No one looks just like me.
Like the fish swimming in the ocean,
So much difference beneath the sea.
Our eyes are different,
Our hair is too.
We were made like the fishes,
So many colors in the blue!
There are over 15,304 species of fish in the ocean!
