In May 1789 the leader of the land(estates general) was called by King Louis XVI a lot, wanting to figure out the kings(monarchy) financial problem. There were 3 different classes describing the lands leader: the kings(nobles), the holy order(the clergy), and the third area(estate). They each had there own vote and the third area was afraid of carrying the money crisis so they decided to form their own public meeting. After being locked out of the room to the leader of the lands(estates general), they moved to the indoor tennis courts and agreed to stay there a until a new law, constitution, had been made.
Meeting of the Estates General (leader of land)
On July 14,1789 in east Paris an angry crowd marched into Bastille where there were housed prisoners. They demanded that the military leader of Bastille surrender the prison and give over the gun powder, but refused. The crowd became very mad and broke in. The soldiers in Bastille became scared and fired into the crowd. The fighting had began and King Louis quit.
Fall of the Bastille
A long long time ago people in Paris and France were hungry and had no jobs. In October, a large crowd of angry people,mostly women, marched from Paris to Versailles and say that the rich families didn't care about the hungry people. They broke into the room of Mary Antoinette. The large group of people wanted bread and wanted to show the king what terrible conditions the people were in. The king agreed and went back with the crazy group.

The public meeting continued working on a new structure for France. The members of the meeting decided to force the kings the king's right. Louis decided to leave France and be on the throne. On June 20th, 1791 the royal family quietly left Paris. They got close to the border before being found in the town in Varennes. The problem was very sad to the public meeting (the national assembly). Now they had to deal with the ruler that was against the law(constitution) and very unpopular with people.
Flight to Varennes
On September 30,1791 the long awaited structure(constitution) came into progress. France was said a constitutional throne while the public meeting(national assembly) was gone and replaced by a body. The result of this was that they lost everyone with political experience
Goodbye to the National Assembly
The problem of war took over the legislative meeting and anger with the rest of Europe rose. In France the support of war was growing. King Louis wanted war because he believed that different language armies would easily overthrow the new government. The opponent, revolutionaries, wanted war because they thought it would bring together the nation. On April 20th France started war on Austria.
