This book is dedicated to all special needs children and adults that bring such meaning and joy to our lives and especially to Landen for showing us how deep love can go.

Landen is a special needs kid with Fragile X Syndrome, that's when some of your X chromosomes have a broken tip. This makes him a very special 17 yr old boy. Landen loves car washes, burgers, dvds, umbrellas, Bert and Ernie, going to the movies and The BFG!
Last Thursday Landen was at home wanting to eat french fries with his dinner. When he was told they were out of them, he dropped to the kitchen floor in his usual acting out and complained. Then he got up and went into his room to eat a cookie instead. His mother, Jessica, called for him about 5 minutes later to come take a bath, she called him several times with no reply and no Landen.
His mom went into his room and saw him sitting in his therapy swing (a cool cocoon swing that hangs from the ceiling and bounces!) but he wasn't facing the TV and he wasn't moving. (Landen is always moving!)
He was facing away from her so she quickly turned him around and suddenly she saw that Landen was not awake but looked asleep and was gurgling in his mouth. Jessica called for Landens' dad Mark to
come and he came running into the room! Mark shook Landen gently but still Landen did not wake up. Mark picked Landen up and laid him on the floor. He checked his heartbeat and finally Landen started to awaken. Landen was sweating and his face was very red. Landen's parents were very worried so they dialed 911 for an ambulance to come. A firetruck with firemen and an ambulance came!

When the paramedics and firemen arrived they checked on Landen and decided to take him to the hospital. Landen did not want to go to the hospital and shouted "I'm fine! I'm fine!" But it did not work. They had to take him so they could make sure he was ok. The paramedics put him on the rolling stretcher and he did not like that! Landen kicked and screamed and more shouting "I'm fine! I'm fine" because Landen was so scared.
Landen had never been to a hospital before. So his dad rode in the ambulance with him to try and keep him calm. His dad said "Don't be afraid Landen, I am here with you!" His mom drove in their car behind the ambulance. The ambulance driver did not turn the siren on so it wouldn't scare him even more.
They took Landen to the Emergency Room in the hospital and there he saw many Doctors and nurses.
They let him walk around when he was feeling better to help him with anxiety that he was feeling. Landen paced and paced in the room.
The Doctor came in and said they wanted to get some of his blood and do a test on his head and even a test on his heart.
