In the Piney Woods, very little erosion takes place in pine forests and grasses. Lots of flooding occurs along riverbanks. Sediments are carried and deposited in different places. The Piney Woods has very coarse texture do to weathered granite over thousands of year.

The Gulf Coastal Plains and Marshes has 30-50 inches of rainfall per year. It is very humid and warm. The biggest cities in this area is Houston, Corpus Christi, and Galveston. Near the gulf coast you can see marshes, barrier islands, and bays. The Gulf Coastal Plains and Marshes stretches 9,500,000 acres along the coast of Texas. The watershed they use is the East San Antonio bay.
