The chest was found some years later by a diver named Nancy. She was hunting for pirate treasure, because she wanted to be rich!

Nancy was so glad to have found the treasure that she did not even notice the engraving on the box! And yes, I am wearing spectacles, I know!

This gold does not belong to the finder, it is the finder's job to give it to the poor,

It took poor Nancy a while to discover the engraving. When she did, she was furious!

Is this some kind of a joke!!!!!?

Nancy was determined to keep the treasure all to herself. However, she couldn't keep a pirate's chest lying around...

So Nancy emptied all the gold into a red box and hid it in a closet. She also threw the empty chest back into the ocean!

Nancy didn't dare bring the gold out, so it sat in the closet for weeks. When at last she came to check on it, mice had made a nest in it. They reminded her of the poor people that she was supposed to give it to.

Nancy began to wonder who Peter the Pirate was, and why in the world didn't he want her to have the gold that was rightfully hers? She looked him up in a book of pirates.
