Life for American Colonists was great until The American Revolutionary War occured.


The American Revolutionary War also known as the american Revolution was the war fought for american independence. The conflict arose from growing tensions between residents of the 13 colonies in North America and British authorities.
The American Revolutionary War occurred because the colonists wanted to be free from England. They started to fight the soldiers of the English army in 1775. The Americans started a war with England.
Many people were involved with the american war. It was fought by Great Britain and the original thirteen colonies. It took place in 1775 to 1783. The Continental Army, the army for the colonists, led by George Washington, defeated the armies of the British Empire.



The American Revolution was a political battle that took place between 1775 to 1783 during which the colonists in the 13 American Colonies rejected the British monarchy aristocracy, overthrew the authority of Great Britain, and founded the United States of America.
On May 10,1775 Ethan Allen, Patriot and colonial leader from Vermont, and Benedict Arnold from Massachusetts led a troop of militia in attack on Fort Ticonderoga in Northeastern New York. The militia went by the name of the Green Mountain Boys. TGMBs surprised the sleeping British soldiers and captured the fort without firing a shot. Because of the victory at Fort Ticonderoga, they got the advantage they needed.
At the Second Continental Congress meeting in Philadelphia, George Washington was appointed the commander and chief of the colonial forces also known as the Continental army. As tensions between Britain and the colonies escalated the colonist had to choose a side.
Those who supported colonial self rule called themselves Patriots.The Patriots believed that Independence was necessary.Colonist who supported Britain were called Loyalists. As time progressed loyalists found themselves an uncomfortable minority. It soon became dangerous to sympathize with Britain. Some Loyalist were beaten or saw their homes burned by fellow colonists.
