One day as Jessica woke up and got ready for school she was excited because she had her favorite class first block which was science. As she got to school she remembered that her class was going to be starting the covalent bonding unit and Jessica was super excited. As she settled in class the bell rung and Jessica was ready to learn.

After Mrs. Johnson which is the science teacher took attendace, she instanstly started her lesson on covalent bonding. She starting off the unit asking "Does anyone know what a covalent bond is?", and as Jessica thought about it and wanted to take a fair shot at the question, one of her classmates beat her to it.

Her classmate answered and said, "a type of chemical bond that involves the sharing of electrons". Mrs. Johnson quickly responded back and said correct. As she began to explain a little more about covalent bonding, she put an example on the board which looked like...

Mrs. Johnson asked the class to repeat after her one after another so they would get familar with the prefixes to each number. Mrs. Johnson also pointed out a quiz would take place soon.

The next question that was asked by the teacher was one that Jessica wanted to take a shot at this time. The question was "How does covalent bonding work?", and Jessica shot her hand up faster then anyone in the class. Despite of if she got the answer right or wrong, it was worth a try. Jessica proudly answered and said "Covalent bonds work together with 

other atoms in order to gain more stability, which is gained by forming a full electron shell.

One of Jessica's classmates asked Mrs. Johnson if electrons were shared or transferred in a covalent bond. Since Mrs. Johnson wasn't the type of teacher to just give the answer she told Jacob that she would explain his question and that he would know the answer after it was explained.
