The Cell Cycle

Living things are always making new cells. They make new cells to grow and replace old and dead cells. When new cells are made, it is called cell splitting. Cell splitting is happening all the time. This is happening because of Mito and Sis. About two trillion cells slpit in our body every day!

Mitosis is when a body cell needs to be copied into an exact copy of itself. Everything in the body cell is the same. The original cell is called the Parent cell and the new cells are called the daughter cells.

Interphase

Cells go through different phases in the cell cycle. The first stage of the cell is called the interphase. In interphase the cell grows, makes more of blue prints, and grows again. When the cell is done with interphase it moves on to mitosis.
