"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." - Neil Armstrong
Neil Armstrong was the first person to walk on the moon!

Hi, my name is Neil! I was born on August 5, 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio. The first time I knew I wanted to fly was when my dad took me to an air show.

I got my pilots license when I turned 15 and was flying fighter jets in the Navy by the time I was in college.

After I graduated from college, I became a test pilot. I got to fly all sorts of experimental planes to test them out to see how well they flew. It was a very dangerous but exciting job!

In September of 1962, I applied to become an astronaut and was selected to be apart of the NASA Astronaut Corps.

On March 16, 1966, I got to go on my first space mission! It was named The Gemini 8 mission. We were in space for 10 hours!

On December 23,1968 I was offered to command the Apollo 11 Mission to the moon. This would be the first landing on the moon and I got to lead it. I was thrilled!
