Oregon Trail

We can convert the Cayuse Natives in Oregon to Christians!!
Two missionaries (people who own a mission) named Marcus and Narcissa Whitman set out to the country of Oregon to build a church!
A disease called "Measles" was brought to the mission and killed many of the Cayuse children. The Natives blamed the Whitmans and killed them!
Fun fact: this will later be called the "Whitman Massacre"
Pioneers no longer came to Oregon to build missions, but that didn't stop the 1,000 emigrants that made the journey across the Oregon trail in 1843! Many more to come in years ahead!
People made this long and difficult journey for multiple reasons: economics were tough in the east, and Oregon had the Rocky Mountains LOADED with resources and nice land for farming!
Mountain men also came to Oregon to hunt for beavers and other animals in the Rocky Mountains and traded the animal fur with Europe. Mountain men were mostly American men and many had Native American wives. These men eventually caught too many beavers and other animals, however, and went out of buisiness!
