There once was a dog named Skippy.
Skippy lived with her mom and aunties. She was happy and loved.
But sometimes, Skippy got angry. Skippy could not speak like her human family. She longed to be understood, and became frustrated when she felt that she was not.
One day, Skippy's favorite toy got stuck under the couch. She barked and barked but no one came to help her.
That was when Skippy decided to run away.
Skippy ran to the park. Here, she decided to dig a hole - as she often did when she was upset.
As Skippy dug, she thought about how badly she wanted to be understood by her family. She made a wish. She wished to be human. Suddenly, the hole got deeper. Skippy could no longer see the bottom. Something told her to jump in - so she did.
When Skippy came out of the hole, she could not believe her eyes. She was much taller. She no longer had paws, but feet. She no longer had floppy ears, but long hair. She was standing upright. She was human!
Skippy was so excited! She ran home to tell her family, but when she knocked on the door, they would not let her in. When she said who she was, they did not believe her. They thought she was crazy.
