Katy is a very kind and caring girl but she doesn't have a large number of friends. She is somewhat superstitious and she enjoys a good fairy tale. This a story of a fairy tale coming true.

Although Katy doesn't have many friends, she has a loving family with an older brother and caring parents. Every night her mum reads her a collection of fairy tales. One strange misty night when Katy's mum was putting her to bed Katy's adventure was about to begin.

On the shortest night of the year, Katy's mum had just finished gently tucking Katy in her blankets when Katy said, "Mummy does anything strange happen on the shortest day of the year?"

"Oh, darling," replied her mum, "Of course not! Only in your imagination."

Surprisingly Katy wasn't very tired that night so she just stayed in bed tossing and turning until she heard a strange noise " beep bop beep bop " Katy jolted out of her bed and ran as fast as lightning to the window. A bright green figure was standing outside the window staring into Katy's room.

As she was excited from seeing an alien for the first time, she had to go outside and investigate the suspicious creature.

After putting on warmer clothing she sneakily went out the front door as quiet as a mouse.

"AH HA!" shouted Katy as she stepped out the door as she had spotted the alien. "Beep bop beep bop" said the alien strangely. Now Katy really did think aliens were real. She looked for a blunt stick to throw at the alien and she found one. Donk! The alien had fell to the ground. Still lying on the floor Katy had covered the alien up with lots of plants.

The next morning Katy had woken up from a slumber but she was still in the same place that she remembered. The alien had gone and so had the plants! Katy looked very satisfied with herself but part of her was quite worried about the alien because she wanted to ask what it was doing here.

Later that summery day, Katy and her mum had gone for a picnic with lots of delicious foods. Katy had wanted to tell her mum what had happened last night but she wanted to keep it secret. There it was, behind the trees, the creepy alien! Katy didn't realise though because she was too busy looking at all the yummy foods.
