Early Life

Harry Houdini was born on March 24, 1874 in Budapest, Hungary. Then he moved to Apple wood, Wisconsin as a child, then moved to New York City with his dad. But little did his family know, he would change the world of magic.

When he was older, he got a job in magic. He married Wilhelmina Beatrice Rahner. Who helped with his magic career. He may seem boring, but he is amazing once you know him.

Magic

Harry went to a local jail and asked the police to lock him up. After a full body search, and locked in handcuffs and leg irons. The locked him up, but he managed to escape! How? No one surely knows.

After this, a man offered him more shows, Harry took this, and became a well known magician! Most magicians make rabbits appear out of hats, but Harry made a 10,000 pound elephant disappear!

Stunts

Harry performed many stunts, like the Water torture cell, where he went head first into a cell full of water, he had handcuffs on, and the roof nailed shut. Although he did escape! Again no one knows for sure.

He also was in a strait jacket! A straight jacket is a jacket with long sleeves usually used to restrain people, but he was also upside down, also everyone was watching him. He escaped, and in front of everyone!

He also performed a stunt called box in a river. Where he had handcuffs and leg irons, trapped in a box with 200 pounds of lead weighing it down, the box was nailed shut, and then tossed in a river. He escaped!

Harry was also buried six feet underground, and in a casket underwater. He escaped still!
