Hello, My name is Miss Jacobs and I will be your tour guide today, taking you through cell city and helping you learn about cells.

This is the City Hall. It represents the nucleus of the cell because the nucleus sends out information to the rest of the cell in order to function properly.

This is a garden. A garden represents the chloroplasts of the cell. Chloroplasts is the location where photosynthesis takes place and its where glucose is created from sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide.

This is the local grocery store. The grocery store stores food and drinks for people to buy. This is like the vacuole of the cell. A vacuole is used to store water and food, just like the grocery store. Although, vacuoles are mainly found in plant cells

This is Billy. He is the garbage man in the city. Billy recycles all of the waste and we throw away in our trash cans. His handy truck he drives around breaks down all of the waste. This is like the lysosomes in animal cells. Lysosomes break down waste and recycle cells parts. They also destroy bacteria and nasty viruses.

Behind me, you see a few telephone poles. Telephone poles generate electricity so the power in our house stays on. These telephone poles represent the mitochondria of the cell. The mitochondria is known as the "powerhouse of the cell," they generate all the energy for the cell.
