" MY SISTER is the strongest person I know... She is my role model!"
"Thanks to her, I learned the spirit of perseverance, positiveness, and never giving up because there is nothing we can't overcome."

My story started when I was ten. We noticed my younger sister, who was 6 at the time, was spacing out for a few seconds about 40 times a day.

When we went to the doctors, she was diagnosed with Epilepsy. It was not a serious case, but could be dangerous. She started taking some medication and we expected over a few weeks she would get better.

It took a turn for the worst when she was 7, she had a grand mal seizure and passed out. It was the scariest moment of my life when the ambulance arrived. She ended up waking up after 10 minutes and we were relieved.

The doctors at NYU decided to take a new route. They prescribed her to keep taking the medicine but go on the Atkins diet which was basically eating little to no carbs and a lot of fats. She used to have to drink heavy cream and take spoonfuls of oil.

After I heard about the Atkins, I became so worried to my sister because I was extremely not sure whether she could afford this. Surprisingly, she made it so well that she finished every meal without any complaint.
