Alexander Graham Bell (1847-1922)
Alexander Graham Bell was the inventor of one of the most important pieces of technology of our time: the telephone. In 1873, Bell began researching methods to send several telegraph messages simultaneously over a single wire. That idea is what led to Bell’s invention of the telephone. On March 7, 1876, the Patent Office awarded Bell what is said to be one of the most-valuable patents in history.

Elias Howe (1819–1867)
In 1846, Elias Howe invented, built and patented the world's first sewing machine. The invention of the sewing machine changed the world by completely revolutionizing the fashion industry by making it easier and faster to sew clothing. Before the sewing machine was invented, it took 14 hours and 26 minutes to make a Gentleman's shirt by hand. Using the sewing machine, the time was reduced to 1 hour and 16 minutes.
Fun Fact: In 2004, Elias Howe was added to United States National Hall of Fame for his great invention!

Thomas Alva Edison ( 1847 - 1931 )
Despite deafness from an early age and a limited formal education, Edison became one of the nation's most prolific pioneers. In his 84 years, Edison, also known as Wizard of Menlo Park, created the world's first industrial research laboratory in 1876 and acquire a record number of 1,093 patents. By December 17, 1903, the brothers made four brief flights at Kitty Hawk with their first powered aircraft thus marking 1903 the year that the Wright Brothers invented the first successful man controlled flight. Through unsuccessful attempts, the Wright Brothers never gave up and their invention paved the way for future air and space technology.
