There once was a student named Erynn.

She was tasked with listening to a certain type of voice for an entire semester and record her thoughts.

Erynn decided to listen to people diagnosed with depression.

And this is what she learned...

Depression is a real disease and should be treated as if it is a physical illness, like cancer. You would never tell someone with cancer to 'just get over it,' so why is it okay to tell that to people diagnosed with depression?

People do not necessarily 'act' depressed. Sometimes the happiest and most friendly people you know are the ones who are struggling the most mentally.

The way media portrays mental illness and suicide is important. There is a right and a wrong way to talk about this topic. Talking about it the wrong way can lead to many bad consequences.

"Real depression isn’t being sad when something in your life goes wrong. Real depression is being sad when everything in your life is going right."
