The semicolon or semi-colon is a punctuation mark that separates major sentence elements. A semicolon can be used between two closely related independent clauses, provided they are not already joined by a coordinating conjunction

Example:
I have a big test tomorrow; I can't go out tonight.
The Christmas ornaments are finally packed away: small, shiny ones; big, bright ones; and the homemade ones.
She had self-defense training; consequently she warded off the assailant.
Colon
a punctuation mark used to precede a list of items, a quotation, or an expansion or explanation.
a colon used in various technical and formulaic contexts, for example a statement of proportion between two numbers, or to separate hours from minutes (and minutes from seconds) in a numerical statement of time.

Examples:
You can come pick me up now: I am feeling much better.
Never forget this point: Think before you speak.

Parallel structure
the same pattern of words to show that two or more words or ideas are of equal importance and to help the reader comprehend what is being written. It is grammatically correct to ensure that phrases, clauses and items on a list after a colon use the correct parallel structure.

Examples:
The teacher told the students that they need to get up early in the morning, that they need to sleep properly, and that they need to eat properly.
The cat runs across the garden, jumps over to the plant, and moves down the road.
Ethos
Is an appeal to ethics, and it is a means of convincing someone of the character or credibility of the persuader. Pathos is an appeal to emotion, and is a way of convincing an audience of an argument by creating an emotional response. Logos is an appeal to logic, and is a way of persuading an audience by reason.
Examples:
"As a doctor, I am qualified to tell you that this course of treatment will likely generate the best results."
"My three decades of experience in public service, my tireless commitment to the people of this community, and my willingness to reach across the aisle and cooperate with the opposition, make me the ideal candidate for your mayor."
