Here is my story of how the Great Depression affected my life.

Malcolm Wilson - 38 years old

I grew up in Chicago in an apartment with 2 brothers, 1 sister, and my mom and dad.

The Beginning of My Life

My wife and I lived in the urban areas in the beginning of the Great Depression. Once the dust bowl hit, we moved into the rural areas.

My Career and Determination

I wanted to become a nurse and help the sickly get better. I always took care of my family went someone got sick or hurt so that's were I found my passion.

The Dust Bowl

When we were living around the Dust Bowl, I was helping people for free who seemed to need help from the Dust Bowl.

Great Depression Origins

When the great depression hit we had loans go unpaid, a lot of built-up credit, and uneven distribution of wealth.

Building up to the Crash of 1929

My salary from being a nurse was enough for me alone but wasn't enough for my wife and kids. I needed to find a way to try to get money to provide for us all.

Credit Overload

My wife didn't have a job so the financial situation was all on me to rely on but we also had enough credit to last us years.

Black Thursday

With all the payments on expensive things, my credit has come back to bite.

Great Depression Hits

October 29th, 1929 I got fired from my nursing job because of too many employees and they couldn't pay me.
