Once upon a time, there were two unicorns who were the best of friends. They loved racing each other up and down the hills of Unicorn Land. Hazel being much smaller was faster than Marshall and always won.

"You won again," complained Marshall. "You always win."
"You have a horn that drags you down," replied Hazel. Hazel was the last unicorn in Unicorn Land to not grow a horn and she was jealous of the others with horns. Marshall often tried to encourage Hazel by saying "It's ok to be different Hazel, I'm sure your horn will grow in soon and then you will be the best unicorn ever! Hazel the Hidden Gem!"

Suddenly, out of the shadows popped Lucas and his friends. Lucas had the best horn out of all the unicorns and he often teased Hazel about not being a real unicorn.
"Hazel, Hazel, she was born with no horn, Hazel, Hazel, is not a real unicorn," sang Lucas and his friends.

Hazel broke into a sprint and raced down the hills, passed the town, around a lake, and into the forest all while she was crying. And poor Marshall could not keep up with his friend to comfort her.

Hazel, now alone in the forest started to created her own horn. Hazel shouted, "I'll make the best horn any unicorn has ever had! Then they'll see me as Hazel, the Hidden Gem!"

As Hazel walked farther and farther she came upon a little cottage. From inside the house came the most delicious aroma so, Hazel entered the small home looking for food.

But little did Hazel know that this house belonged to a witch! "What are you doing in my home," proclaimed the witch. "I'm sorry, Mrs. Witch but I was trying to grow a horn and I stumbled upon your house," cried Hazel. "That's your horn?" the witch asked while pointing at the stick on Hazel's head. The witch busted into laughter and said, "come with me."

The witch led Hazel where a cauldron stood. The witch threw ingredients into the cauldron and started chanting... "She wants to be cool, she wants to be new, but she must be warned about her new horn!"

Poof!
Puff!

"That didn't work at all," said Hazel "It made me look worse." The witch nodded in agreement and said, "Maybe you shouldn't try to change yourself. Maybe you are perfect just the way you are." "How can you say that?" exclaimed Hazel "I am the only unicorn without a horn!" "Sometimes the best beauty is hidden." And with that Hazel huffed and ran off.

Hazel continued her search for her horn when it started to rain. Seeking shelter from the rain Hazel found a dark cave and ventured in. "Helloooo..."

"Well hello there," replied a dragon who was asleep on a huge pile of gold. " I don't mean to intrude Mr. Dragon but it was raining so I entered your cave. May I stay till the rain dies down?" The Dragon agreed and offered Hazel a cup of tea.

While Hazel sipped her tea the dragon asked, "why are you in the forest and not with your friends young unicorn?" "Because Mr. Dragon, I am different from other unicorns, I have not grown my horn yet. So I ran away." The dragon listened to Hazel's story and asked, "Are you not proud of who you are?" "What" replied Hazel.

The mighty Dragon spread out his wings and said, "I am proud of my wings, I am proud that I am different from others. It makes me special and it makes you special." Hazel stared at the dragon's wings and said, "But you can fly, you can do things I can't. "

"But you can do things I can't," countered the dragon. "You must find what you are good at and be proud to be you."

After Hazel finished her tea with Mr. Dragon she went outside to see if the rain had stopped. And seeing that the rain had stopped Hazel continued her journey.

As Hazel walked through the forest she thought about how the witch told her that she shouldn't change herself. And how the dragon told her to be proud of her differences. "That's easy for them to say," Hazel said. "They can do things others can't, thing I can't do."
