Born in 1835, Andrew Carnegie was an immigrant from Scotland, and came to America when he was 13 years old.
Soon after he arrived in America, he found work at a cotton factory, with a pay of $1.20 a week.
Later on, he worked as a telegraph operator assistant, and later promoted to an operator. He was then learning to become the entrepreneur he was when he died.
Carnegie made choices and investments while he was working in the railroad that helped him become the leader in the steel industry, including a large amount in oil.
Carnegie found a way to mass produce steel using a method called the Bessemer process, created by Henry Bessemer.
Within the next ten years, he made an empire of steel called Carnegie Steel Company.
With this monopoly, Carnegie became rich. He innovated the steel making world with a new project that changed the world forever.
