Democratic Ideals are the beliefs that support democracy, the founders of our country believed that they were essential for democracy to function as it does.
Democracy means "rule by the people" coined from the greek word demos ("people") and kratos ("rule")
What is the constitution?
The constitution is a system of basic principles that define one's rights. This system also defines the guidelines of government. The constitution helps to regulate government.


Checks and Balances -
Checks and balances is a system of sharing. Power is not concentrated in ones hands, distributed between the three branches of government. These three branches consist of; the legislative, executive and judicial branches.


Federalism -
Federalism is a system that shares power between state and federal governments. Federalism practices the sharing of power between two or more groups.


Individual Rights -
Personal freedoms that people are born with. These freedoms are; life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Life is the right to live your life without fear.
Pursuit of happiness means that people should be free to engage with what brings them joy or happiness.
Liberty is the right to live your life in freedom, as an independent person.
